KIE announces its exclusive package to the 2012 Kyoto Marathon! The city’s first full marathon will be held on March 11, 2012. This date also marks the one year anniversary of the tragic Great Tohoku Earthquake and Tsunami. The event’s goal is to raise funds for the reconstruction of the affected areas as well as revitalization of Kyoto and Japan.

The marathon will start from the Nishikyogoku Sport Park and finish in front of the Heian Shrine. Runners will run along the Kamo River, past seven World Heritage sites, and along the five hills famous for their August festival bonfires. About 15,000 runners are expected to attend this event.
